The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Homeland Security have postponed the annual test of the Emergency Alert System and the Wireless Emergency Alert System. The new date for the test is Wednesday, October 3, at 1:18p.m.
The test is significant because, while the EAS System has been tested annually, this is the first year for a test of the WEA System. Because Wireless Emergency Alerts are received by most cell phone users, more people will be affected by the test.
